Installing CD-ROM Libraries
Thank you for choosing Ages Digital Libraries! The books in the Libraries use a program called Adobe Acrobat Reader. Versions of Acrobat Reader for Windows (95 and higher) and Macintosh (OS9 and higher) are included with each of our Digital Libraries. Adobe Acrobat Reader can also be downloaded for free by visiting:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
When you download the software, make sure you place a check mark next to the Include Option for Searching box in Step 1. Follow the instructions on the Adobe Web site to download and install the software.
Before you begin installing the Library, make sure that you have disabled anti-virus software, system utilities, and installation monitors. This step is crucial or a corrupted installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader may result. Also, you only need one copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. if you already have a copy of the Reader on your computer, uninstall it if:
- The version of the Reader is older than the version on the AGES Digital Library that you are installing.
- The current version did not come with another AGES Software Digital Library. This is important because when Acrobat Reader is distributed by other vendors (such as scanner or printer manufacturers) it usually does not include the Search feature.
To install your AGES Digital Library:
Windows:
- Insert the disc into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.
- Open the icon for your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. It is often (but not always) D:.
- Locate the icon called Setup and double-click it.
- Follow the instructions on screen to complete installation.
Macintosh:
- Insert the disc into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- Double-click the icon for the disc to open it.
- Double-click the icon called Mac Installer.
- Follow the on screen instructions to install the library.
